Transport of animals
Animals are accepted for transportation as cargo only.
Important: If you are travelling with your pet, in the hold, please inform your ticketing sales office at the time of booking and at least two working days before your scheduled departure date.
Exception: only guide dogs for visually impaired or hearing-impaired passengers may be authorized to travel in cabin under certain conditions. In this case, you should contact the sales office in your country.
In most countries, the importation of live animals is subject to strict veterinary and health regulations. Depending on the destination, the following documents may be required:
• A certificate of origin confirming that the country or region of origin has remained free from contagious diseases for a specified period;
• A veterinary health certificate confirming that the animal is free from any contagious disease;
• A valid vaccination certificate
• An import permit or authorization issued by the relevant veterinary or quarantine authorities of the destination country.

Destinations
To France
The main steps for transporting live animals to France are described as follow:
1. Start the booking process at least 3 months before the intended departure date by contacting our Tontouta Cargo Office:

2. Obtain a health certificate from the SIVAP Quarantine Service:

3. Attend all appointments scheduled prior to your animal's departure.
4. Once all formalities and bookings have been approved, drop your animal to PACIFIC AIRPORT ENGIE Cargo Service (Tel. +687 35 26 13) located at Cargo Area, at Tontouta Airport, at least 4 hours before the scheduled departure time of the flight.
As regulations are constantly changing, full details of the procedure and formalities will be provided once you have contacted our cargo sales office.
To New Caledonia
The procedure for transporting live animals to New Caledonia is as per below:
1. Contact the SIVAP Quarantine Service to obtain information on the import requirements applicable in New Caledonia:

Useful information
Choosing the Right Crate for Your Animal
To ensure your pet travels safely and comfortably, the transport crate must comply with IATA (International Air Transport Association) regulations.
- The crate must be made of fiberglass or rigid plastic only.
- The bottom of the crate must be watertight on all sides.
- If the crate has wheels, they must be removed. If they are retractable, they must be secured with adhesive tape.
- The door must be fitted with a central locking system that simultaneously locks the two locking points at the top and bottom of the door.
- The door hinges must extend at least 1.6 cm beyond the horizontal edge above and below the door.
- The dimensions of the openings must be 25 x 25 mm for dogs and 19 x 19 mm for cats.
- The two parts of the crate must be secured with bolts. Any other method of securing the sides is strictly prohibited.
- The animal must be able to stand upright, with its head fully raised, without touching the top of the crate. It must also be able to turn round and lie down comfortably.
